The masterful 6-track odyssey takes listeners on an aural adventure, showcasing Dokkodo’s sumptuous and evocative soundscapes. Playing within the realms of the Lo-fi genre, Thomas laces the EP with subtle touches and musical nuances that make for a gentle exploration of moods and emotions and demonstrates his affinity with the genre. From the rich guitar riffs of ‘Between Us and the folk led feel of ‘Haze’, Trueman moves into a bouncy rhythm with ‘Timings’ and a glistening electronic vibrations of ‘Look Up’, before moving into the broken beats of the downtempo aptly-titled ‘Erase Me’ and finishing up with a sense of splendour on the majestic ‘Flat Skylines’. Harnessing his ability to captivate listeners with his delicate approach to melodies, Dokkodo ensures his latest EP sounds organic yet contemporary, spontaneous but rich, simple yet sophisticated, all at the same time

Producer and sound designer Thomas Trueman – aka Dokkodo Sounds – derived his unusual alias from the book ‘The Dokkodo (The Way of Walking Alone)’. Written by Miyamoto Musashi in preparation for his own death, the book contains 21 precepts on how best to live your life. Carrying on the message and legacy of Musahi, Thomas’s motto reflects his desire to live his best life through music and art and his latest body of work reflects just that. With the release of ‘No Feeling Is Final’, the talented producer looks set to capture the ears of more and more listeners worldwide, and with an imminent NFT drop via his label DRRT Records on the horizon, the future is looking bright for Dokkodo Sounds.
