Drake Bell Finds New Inspiration In Old Songs On “The Lost Album”

When Drake Bell recorded the follow up to his 2006 debut album It’s Only Time, he never thought it would finally see the light of day over a decade later. Aptly named The Lost Album, Drake Bell’s latest release, out now viVydiawas quite literally lost for the past 12 years.

“When I started working on the album, all I had were skeletons of songs…then the harddrive was lost. I thought the songs would never be heard again. Fans actually started to take snippets of the teasers I released at the time and formed them into their own songs with their own titles,” Drake explains.

The harddrive was found in a damaged box years later, filled with dirt and completely waterlogged. Against all odds, it was able to be restored and all of the original recordings were recovered unharmed. He kept the original tracks, added background vocals, real drums, and real horns. Now, after over a decade, Drake Bell finally gives fans the songs they’ve been demanding for years. The Lost Album is available now across all streaming platforms here: https://vydia.lnk.to/TheLostAlbum.

Similarly to how Beach Boys fans wondered if they would ever hear Smile, the forbidden follow-up to Pet Sounds, Drake Bell fans wondered if they would ever hear the sound that they initially fell in love with on It’s Only Time. Thankfully, fans did not have to wait around 40 years to listen to this 2000’s time capsule. The Lost Album is its own wall of sound, filling every nook and cranny with lush harmonies, brassy horns, and piano-driven melodies.

The Lost Album follows Drake Bell’s recent dive into Latin music, singing in Spanish on last year’s singles, “Fuego Lento” and “No Perdamos Más Tiempo,” which he tributes to his dedicated Latin fan base. “Fuego Lento” continues to be Bell’s most streamed song, amassing over 18 million streams and 18 million views on YouTube.

From the sets of Drake and Josh to arena stages around the world, Drake Bell has always been able to appeal to the masses while still staying true to his craft. Whether he is experimenting with Latin flair, exploring dance-inspired vibes on his Honest EPor resorting back to his pop-rock roots, the multitalented artist is always keeping it interesting.
