LUSU are a relatively new formation as a duo, but by two established producers, with deep roots in the electronic music world, they have decided to combine their knowledge, and experience to launch and explore new sounds under their LUSU alias. They have already played their distinctive sound at stages for Parookaville, SudOeste and Mystic Garden, with a lot more for 2025 to come.
Wiwek and Mike Cervello, aka LUSU has success in 2024 with a string of chart-topping releases on Drumcode, Hilomatik and Arcane, whilst releasing collaborations with Hi-LO and Eli Brown, so it’s no surprise they are back on the imprint for their third release ‘Siren’ this April.
Rooted in the spirit of 90’s rave culture, both the tracks on this release aim to tell a story about human connection and technological evolution. ‘Brain’ opens the release with a hypnotic pulse accompanied by a heavy kick and bassline, the guys used a beautiful, yet haunting vocal which lyrics give nod to the fusion of man and machine ethos of the release.
‘Siren’ the title track explodes from the offset, with the use of sirens and pounding basslines, together they narrate a journey from solitary introspection to a unified force. It’s a high-octane throwback to the raw, unified spirit of the 90’srave culture. Taking you back to that massive sweat soaked dancefloor, with bodies all around you moving as one. The female vocal cuts through the chaos, it acts as a call to the collective energy—relentless, euphoric, and unbreakable—just like those endless nights of dancefloor communion.
