March 29, 2024 – Ekali’s long-awaited return to the dance music scene takes center stage with the debut release of ‘Awakening Compilation 01‘ from his newly established label, Awakening Records. Set to drop on March 29, this 23-track compilation signifies a significant milestone for Ekali and marks the genesis of an exciting chapter for Ekali and his label. Reflective of his renowned Awakening mix series, ‘Awakening Compilation 01’ is ingeniously crafted as a double album, comprising an electrifying A-section teeming with bass-forward, club-ready tracks, followed by a captivating B-section characterized by moody, experimental sounds. This carefully curated collection pays homage to Ekali’s legacy while setting the stage for a new era of sonic exploration and boundary-pushing creativity.

Ekali shares, “Moving Awakening from a mix series into a label and providing a platform for younger artists has been a dream of mine for nearly a decade. In 2023 I decided to take a leap of faith and begin curating an album for this purpose, which eventually manifested as ‘Awakening Compilation 01’. The goal was to field records from the most promising young artists in the underground scene, regardless of genre, and present a longform project that plays seamlessly front to back and takes listeners on a journey through numerous musical styles and moods. This diverse representation is a value that sits at the core of Awakening as a whole. It was an incredible experience getting to know the stories of the dozens of artists involved in this project, and learning that in many cases my own music was in the past a catalyst for them to begin producing. It truly feels like a full circle moment for me and I’m honored to present this 23 track album to the world and represent some of the most talented individuals in the electronic music scene.”
This compilation marks a pivotal moment for Ekali as he embarks on a journey of sonic exploration, feeling more inspired than ever to push the boundaries of his sound while elevating the voices of talented artists deserving of the spotlight. ‘Awakening Compilation 01’ celebrates Awakening’s rich history and provides a glimpse into the exciting future that Ekali and his team are shaping. In conjunction with the release, Ekali will kick off his highly anticipated Alinea Tour on March 22nd at Q Nightclub in Seattle. The tour will traverse iconic venues across the United States, including Soundcheck DC on March 30 and Webster Hall on April 12, featuring support from artists showcased on ‘Awakening Compilation 01.’

Awakening Records Bio
Awakening is a world born during the golden Soundcloud era in the mid 2010’s. It began as Ekali’s flagship curated mix series which garnered tens of millions of streams over the following decade, highlighting records from underground artists with the intention of pushing electronic music culture forward. Awakening Records is an evolution of this universe, transitioning forward to giving the best musicians in the underground electronic space a platform to release their music while maintaining complete creative control over their projects and presenting the art on their own terms. The label defies genre tropes and opts instead to tie it’s varying releases together by a common thread – giving artists the freedom to tell their own stories in the presentation of the releases and in the music itself.
