Emilia Ali Shares Ultra Debut EP ‘Girls Like You’

Boston native songwriter & performer Emilia Ali has released her new EP Girls Like You – her
Ultra Records debut – available to stream now on all DSPs worldwide. The EP is a collection of
moody alt-pop anthems that represents the internalized misogyny and self-sabotage to which
Emilia unknowingly subjected herself during her upbringing.

“I wrote/co-wrote most of Girls Like You You when I was younger, leaving little bread crumbs to
my truth, and unaware of what or why I was creating when I was creating it,” she explains on the
EP. “I was unaccepting of myself and sexuality for the longest time because most of my
behavior was in exchange for love, acceptance, or safety from other people.”

Boston-based & fresh off graduation from Berklee College of Music, Emilia Ali made waves in
fall 2016 with her vocal feature on VALNTN’s international hit, “Can’t Let Go.” To date, the track
has garnered more than 20 million global streams. Shortly after its release, Emilia independently
her EP Dreamland, which debuted at #24 on the iTunes Pop Chart and was then re-released via
Listen For Pleasure/Capitol Records. Emilia’s vocals and writing have also been heard on
dwilly’s 2018 single “ADD,” accumulating more than 10 million global streams. In 2020, she
co-wrote and featured on Mickey Valen’s single “ur perfect i hate it” and dwilly’s single on
Atlantic, “love is scary.” Earlier this year, Emilia signed a publishing deal with Ultra and has fully
cultivated her production skills with the release of Girls Like You. The EP includes her two
recent singles, “Beautiful” and “Loved the ocean.” In “Loved the ocean” she interpolates
“Notion,” a song by her mother, Barbara Kessler, who many know from her songwriting success
during the 90’s and 2000s. “Loved the Ocean” was also sampled by UK indie/R&B group Easy
Life on their debut Top 5 UK album, who discovered Emilia organically through Spotify and fell in
love with the song.

Fans can expect an official music video for the EP’s title track “Girls Like You” on July 30th.
