ENERGY WHORES UNLEASH FIERCELY POLITICAL DANCE-PUNK SINGLE ‘HEY HEY HATE’

Hey Hey Hate is a protest anthem against the rising tide of hate, propaganda, and moral collapse; With bold lyrics and an electrifying beat, it calls for urgent change — and dares to dream of love raining down on a broken world.

Bold, subversive, and unflinchingly current, Energy Whores return with ‘Hey Hey Hate’, a defiant new single tearing into the heart of modern-day division. Helmed by visionary singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Carrie Schoenfeld, the electro-punk-pop collective blends pulsating dancefloor energy with an unfiltered critique of contemporary political dysfunction—challenging listeners to move their feet and open their eyes.

‘Hey Hey Hate’ arrives as a melodic protest: fusing gritty synth lines, anthemic hooks, and sharp lyricism into a track that both grooves and provokes. It’s a modern rallying cry drenched in distortion and attitude, aimed squarely at the polarisation gripping societies across the globe. The single continues the collective’s ongoing mission to fuse music with meaning. Drawing from a wide spectrum of influences—from Dylan and Ochs to disco, punk, and avant-electronica—Energy Whores inject urgency and intellect into the dance music canon. “We’re not here to soothe,” says Schoenfeld. “We’re here to shake you up.”

Formed in a DIY basement studio in New York, Energy Whores is led by Schoenfeld (a classically-trained pianist, indie filmmaker and Off-Broadway producer) alongside guitarist Attilio Valenti. The duo has cultivated a distinctive sound—part synth rebellion, part political theatre—gaining critical acclaim for their genre-defying releases and art-driven ethos.

‘Hey Hey Hate’ is the latest preview of the upcoming full-length project Arsenal of Democracy, slated for a 2026 vinyl release; The album promises an immersive mix of EDM, electro-pop, and experimental art rock, underpinned by folk-rooted lyricism and razor-sharp social commentary. Fans can expect more singles throughout summer 2025, plus visuals, live sessions, and tour announcements on the horizon.

With their finger firmly on the pulse of the cultural moment, Energy Whores aren’t just making music—they’re igniting a movement.

Artist Statement — Carrie Schoenfeld / Energy Whores

“I am a sonic insurgent. A lyrical arsonist. I make music to expose what others try to bury, injustice, greed, hypocrisy, and the emotional fallout of a broken world. My project, Energy Whores, is where electronic beats meet art rock, folk, and raw protest,  a genre I call avant electro. Every track is a mirror held to society’s face, sometimes cracked, sometimes bloodied, always unfiltered.

I don’t write love songs. I write warning signs.
My lyrics dissect the sickness of power, the isolation of modern life, and the emotional warzones we carry inside. I’m here to say what others are too afraid to say — and I’ll set it to a beat you can’t ignore. Music is my rebellion and my redemption. It’s not just entertainment — it’s a weapon and a witness.

I create for the misfits, the furious, the disillusioned , and the ones still standing after the world tried to erase them.”

Hey Hey Hate was written as a gut reaction to the normalization of violence, lies, and division in today’s world. We live in a time where reason has drowned, and propaganda spreads faster than truth. This song is a rallying cry — a wake-up call to those who still believe in empathy, in facts, in love.

It marches through the chaos, naming the danger without flinching: hate feeds on ignorance, disinformation, and fear. But it doesn’t stop there. The chorus dares to flip the narrative — to imagine what could happen if every person became a tiny drop of love. A flood of compassion, too strong for hate to stop.

Hey Hey Hate is both protest and possibility. And it’s time to make it rain.

Hate is loud. So we got louder. “Hey Hey Hate” is out now.
