Era Istrefi follows up World Cup performance with “Prisoner” official video.
Era Istrefi is having a moment. The Albanian singer was featured on Nicky Jam’s official FIFA World Cup Russia song, “Live It Up,” alongside entertainment juggernaut Will Smith and produced by Diplo. The track and music video have generated over a hundred million streams, with the trio performing it at the World Cup finals in Russia on Sunday, July 15th.
On the heels of this historic moment, Era has dropped the video for her “Reggae-tinged” new single “Prisoner.” The video was shot in Jamaica and has a modern Bonnie and Clyde appeal.
Generating millions of streams and over half a billion views on YouTube, Era has captivated audiences with her alluring voice, which seamlessly alternates back and forth between her native language, Albanian, and English. Her most successful single to date, “Bonbon,” is certified Gold in the Netherlands, Germany, and Canada. It has garnered over 500 million YouTube plays, 100 million Spotify streams, and topped the Shazam, Spotify, and iTunes charts in Europe while gaining international acclaim.
These early milestones lead to Era signing with Ultra Music. Her first release with the label, “Redrum” featuring Felix Snow, hit #45 on the US Billboard Dance chart. Her success continued with the release of electro-pop single “No I Love Yous” featuring Grammy-nominated, Moroccan-American hip-hop artist, French Montana.
With more memorable music on the horizon, the world is watching as Era steps into the spotlight.
