Farius lands back on the label, this time with his fresh rework of Super8 & Tab’s ‘Needs To Feel’. Originally released in 2007, the track has become one of the duo’s most recognised records and its remix by GRAMMY-nominated producer Wippenberg (a.k.a. Olaf Dieckmann) has been heralded as a true trance classic.
Ahead of his new reimagining of the track, we sat down with Farius to chat all things ‘Needs To Feel‘…

When was the first time you heard the original ‘Needs To Feel’?
“Interestingly, I discovered the track in reverse. The first version I heard was the Wippenberg remix, around 2015. I remember thinking, “Oh, this is a cool remix. What’s the original?”, so weirdly my introduction to ‘Needs To Feel’ actually came through a reinterpretation first, which made going back to the source material even more special. I really love that remix.”
What do you love about the Wippenberg remix?
“I love that it’s so clearly of its time. But then when you listen to the original, what really stands out is the bassline. It has this rolling, relentless motion that feels like pure dancefloor perfection; hypnotic, infectious, and impossible to stand still to. It just keeps moving, round and round, and that sense of momentum is what makes it so enduring.”
How did you approach revisiting this classic?
“Well, I come from a remix background, that’s how I started making records – remixing, bootlegging stuff. So it comes quite naturally to me. For this one, I was like, “Ilove that bass, I want to put it in somewhere”. I also really love the original chord progression, but I wanted to do something that was just a little bit darker than the original. The original is really nice, it’s quite uplifting, but I thought “It’s 2026. Let’s do something that really tears the dancefloor apart on the drop”. So I wanted to give it a really dark kind of bassline, mixed with that classic Farius sound – it sounds cliché, but I wanted that emotional hands-in-the-air kind of thing.”
What are your three favourite Super8 & Tab tracks?
“They’ve got so many! They‘re legendary status. ‘Needs To Feel‘ has to be there: love the bassline, love the sound of that record. Super cool.
The obvious choice, ‘Helsinki Scorchin‘‘, is a big inspiration of mine – that record is such a banger.
And ‘Black Is The New Yellow‘ is another standout. Simon Gregory’s recent remix was so good, and served almost as a bit of inspiration for my remix of ‘Needs To Feel‘. I love the original’s bassline, the way it drops. I heard Above & Beyond play it in Cologne when I was playing with them and it was an instant love.”
What are your favourite Anjuna tracks from the 2000s?
“This is a tough one, because I was a bit of a late bloomer in trance. I got into Anjuna in around 2013/2014 and worked backwards through there catalogue from there. I love the classic Above & Beyond records, with ‘On A Good Day‘ being probably my favourite – but don‘t hold a gun to my head and make me choose!
I love Bart Claessen’s remix of ‘Cold Front‘ from Anjunabeats Volume 5, and honestly, give me any Daniel Kandi from back in the day.”
