Flexout Audio and Sofa Sound Bristol have announced a strategic alignment that brings both iconic drum & bass imprints under a single operational team, while preserving the creative independence and distinct identity of each label.
The move is designed to strengthen infrastructure, streamline operations and support long-term artist development without impacting the unique sound or direction of either imprint. As label manager Tom Bassi explains, “Both labels will remain completely independent, the sound of each will not change. They will actually be more refined as there will be no crossover artists like there has been occasionally in the past. The only real change is that there is now one team behind them.”
This commitment to artistic integrity is echoed across both camps. Sofa Sound A&R Jay (DLR) highlights the importance of patience in nurturing talent: “It can take time and patience with all the artists to give them the space and encouragement to develop their music so it’s the best it can be and it’s personal to them. More so than ever we don’t need to rush.” Marcel (aka KRÆK), part of the primary management team, reinforces that ethos, following his experience as part of Flexout’s management, saying: “If it’s a choice between making money and doing what’s best for the art then we’ll always choose the latter. I want to use my resources to protect the underground culture that made me who I am today.”
Both labels enter this new chapter on the back of a strong run of recent releases. Flexout Audio has maintained a packed schedule into early 2026, with standout drops including Amoss’ ‘Powder VIP’, ‘Funk Knows’, and TeeBee’s long awaited ‘Cosmic Carnival’ LP in the latter half of 2025. Meanwhile, Sofa Sound Bristol has kept momentum going with its own output, including the ‘Sofa Sound 2025’ compilation, featuring key tracks from artists such as DLR, Molecular, Genic and Leaf, demonstrating the label’s continued commitment to underground, forward-thinking drum & bass.
Through this alignment, the two labels will continue to operate independently with their own release strategies, roster focus and brand vision, while benefiting from a coordinated team that enhances operational efficiency and long-term planning. Both imprints are also planning live showcases and events across the UK, bringing their artists and communities together while maintaining the underground-first ethos that has defined their reputations.
Further announcements regarding forthcoming releases, events and initiatives will be made in the coming months.
