Lorenzo Spano, seasoned Italian producer and DJ, has established his NY and Chicago-inspired take on house through releases on Defected, Nervous and Glasgow Underground. ‘The King’ sees him collaborate with fellow Florence-based talent, Markyno, with whom he has already joined forces this year for a run of excellent EPs out via Motive, Blockhead and PHXBLK. This run continues on Adesso Music with their latest EP.
Punchy drums, a funk-fulled bassline, wildly swung percussion and sleazy vocals all combine to maximum effect on ‘The King’, creating an irresistible groove to send heads nodding. The arrangement is kept minimal, ensuring an emphasis on groove and making this the perfect selection to get the dancefloor locked in.
This is an excellent release from Lorenzo Spano and Markyno, marking them out as a duo to watch.
