Translating a club record into a breathtaking instrumental piece takes a special kind of musical talent, and French Braids is one of those gifted individuals you can entrust such a task to. The Canadian artist took his two-month-old collab with Aussie songstress George Maple titled ‘Heartbeat’, stripped it down to its compositional essentials and proudly delivered a moving piano version that takes listeners on a sonic journey that’s melancholic, yet hopeful.
Bringing the song to life in a different manner, the piano solo of French Braids and George Maple’s ‘Heartbeat’ puts its creator’s musicianship on full display. Both graceful and heart-stirring, this rendition fulfills the song’s emotional potential from the first keystroke till the final tone.
“Coming from a piano background, I’ve always wanted to convert one of my records into a piano piece”, French Braids says. “I’ve been very inspired by the instrumental piano music on playlists such as Peaceful Piano on Spotify, and felt that ‘Heartbeat’ was the perfect song to strip down and showcase from a more organic angle.”
Sean Fischer’s production name French Braids makes perfect sense for an electronic artist known for weaving styles and genres together. In addition to the well over 15 million streams worldwide under this moniker, Fischer’s talents can also be heard on hundreds of syncs ranging from Grey’s Anatomy to Toyota, Walmart, Disney, Air Canada and McDonalds. Having fallen for electronic music, the Toronto-born beat-maker, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has also branched out into remixes for an international array of artists, including Grammy-nominated Australian trio Mansionair, South African superstar Sketchy Bongo, Swedish pop icon Zara Larsson and rising Canadian club crooner Virginia To Vegas.
