After years of thrilling Parisian clubs as half of the ALVA duo, Virage Records co-founder Berzingue continues his solo work with another superb EP. ‘Road Trip’ is his third outing for Point Neuf Records and is a captivating musical journey that pays homage to the annual road trips Berzingue takes with his wife across France. Each track references a significant place from their travels, capturing a balance between sweetness and club vibes and showing that Berzingue continues to push boundaries in house music while staying true to his French touch roots.
As the title suggests, the fantastic opener ‘La Plage’ has a beachy allure and laid-back grooves topped with sunny chords and tropical melodies. There is a vibrant energy to ‘Roscoff’ that rides on super smooth and seductive house drums with bubbling basslines and airy leads. The warmth of Nîmes is captured in ‘Nemausus’, a more lively track underpinned by a garage skip and topped with exuberant strings and vocal harmonies.
‘La Demande’ traces the emotional magic of a marriage proposal with busy house beats and intense synth energy. The EP culminates in the contemplative ambiance of ‘Trois Torrents’, a blissed-out and breezy garage-house groove that soon sweeps you off your feet.
Berzingue’s Road Trip EP will be released on Pont Neuf Records on May 31st, 2024. The preceding singles, ‘Roscoff’, will be released on April 12th and ‘La Demande’ on May 3rd.
