Frills presents New Year’s Dance

SUPPORT OUR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN: A BETTER FUTURE FOR DISADVANTAGED YOUTH IN BERLIN

It’s been another frustrating winter for the nightlife of Berlin, and although many in our industry struggle through these difficult times, it’s still important to look beyond our own surroundings and put things into perspective. Setting our intentions for the year ahead, we want to spread some positive energy and support outside of our industry to a place where it’s greatly needed.

Karuna Bleibe is a residential home in Berlin for unaccompanied minor refugees and German youth with no home or place in society. Many of the residents struggle with addiction or come from troubled and traumatic backgrounds, and when the ‘rules’ of other institutions have failed them, Karuna Bleibe offers a home and the opportunity to set a new course for the future.

Whilst the city’s dancefloors remain closed, the Frills crew will be setting off on an epic dance into 2022 to help raise funds for this essential institution. We will be clocking up 2,022 kilometres throughout January, counting our KMs with every step danced, run, hiked or cycled! And once we hit that target, Frills will be donating 500€ on behalf of the whole crew. Our target is 2022€, so we’re asking you, our close network of friends and colleagues to help reach our goal by donating whatever you can, whether it’s 5€, 10€ or 50€. We’d love your support in this New Years challenge, and we hope to continue supporting Karuna Bleibe well into 2022 and beyond.

ABOUT KARUNA BLEIBE E.V.

The Karuna Bleibe team comprises educators, social workers, psychologists and volunteers, whose collective belief is that to solve these complex issues the residents are faced with, acceptance, understanding and stable relationships are needed. Karuna Bleibe is a judgement-free safe space, where conversation, human interation and communication outweigh the behavioural rules that cause exclusion and rejection.  Like many social institutions, Karuna Bleibe is drastically underfunded by the government, and many of the young people that need support the most are not eligible due to instances of ‘rule breaking’ or not fulfilling the criteria. The home will be using the funds raised from our campaign to set up a ‘DIY Home Improvements’ project that will see the residents themselves set to work on building new furniture and redecorating the home. You can read more about it on the fundraising page
