Genix and Bebi finally dropped ‘Feels Like’

Genix and Bebi finally dropped ‘Feels Like‘ – a high-energy, speed garage track built on UK-influenced grooves, a punchy bassline, and decades of friendship. Debuted during their b2b at Anjuna25 in New York, the record perfectly captures the chemistry and creative trust between the two. We caught up with Damo and Bruce to talk collaboration, chemistry, and what makes this record a hit.

On working together…

Damo on Bruce:

We clicked instantly. Sometimes you meet someone and it feels like you’ve known them your whole life. We’ve had so many great memories DJing together over the years and just messing around in our downtime – usually involving a beer or two, haha. Production-wise, Bruce is insanely good. The first time I heard his music it actually annoyed me how good he was. He’s amazing with grooves and bass, which I really love.

Bruce on Damo:

Too many memories with Damo! We’ve shared quite a few shows together, and some of our fondest memories is doing face swaps – every time it’s like nothing even changes. I’ve been loving Damo’s newer productions lately, especially that warehouse, underground energy. His melodics have always been strong, and it really complements what I’m doing.

On ‘Feels Like’…

You both make music that draws from a lot of influences – UK house, trance, progressive, bass. How did you narrow down what ‘Feels Like’ would sound like when you each make such good music from different worlds?

Damo: It started as a demo I’d been working on but needed something extra. I sent it to Bruce and he worked his magic on it, adding elements I wouldn’t have even thought about — that’s the beauty of collaboration! This track didn’t really have any references, it just came together organically without too much thought! That’s a good sign, right?

Bruce: It started with Damo sending me stems for a record he was working on. It actually sounded completely different from the first versions!. I was trying to really get aggressive with the bassline work, since I tend to lean into the bass-heavy stuff, but Damo added that UK touch to it and it became what it is today.

What do you hope your track ‘Feels Like’ to a listener?

Damo: Standing in the middle of a festival field having the best time. I played the tune out last summer at a few festivals and honestly wished I could experience it from the dancefloor too. That bass on the drop is a face melter!

Bruce: I hope it feels like nothing else matters except dancing in the moment.

On going b2b in NYC…

We loved your b2b set at Anjuna25 in NYC last April — how did that come together?

Damo: There were some set time changes as the venue had some issues, but that almost made it better – we discovered what fun we could have! We organised a few folders, mapped out a loose direction, and just had fun with it.

Bruce: Actually quite a lot of planning went into it. Since this was my first show as Bebi I really wanted to showcase some of the sounds that I would be playing for my solo shows. So I think we found a really good middle ground between Damo’s sound and mine.

Would you go b2b again?

Both: Absolutely!

On the future…

Can we expect more collaborative music from you both in the future?

Bruce: We for sure got a follow up on the way! Maybe two?

Damo: And both sounding great 🙂
