He will be performing at Gladstone Arms on Tuesday 17th August and will also play in Jungle’s band for their upcoming tour.
Having recently garnered a writing credit for Doja Cat‘s latest album Planet Her, London-based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer Geo Jordan has unveiled his sophomore EP Technicolour, out today.
His most open body of work to date, Technicolour is a record steeped in introspection, bringing into focus his quest for self and his journey as a trans artist. Underpinned by futuristic production, opener ‘Hide’ portrays Geo at his most honest and vulnerable, before the uptempo ‘Figure It Out’ sees him address his transition and his feelings surrounding it, as he concedes that “something in my anatomy is spinning me out”.
‘Better’, Geo’s first single release of 2021, then pairs a stripped-back, funk-driven production with his own smooth vocals while ‘Let Go’, his second single, delivers a jazz-inflected, futuristic dose of neo soul. Closing things out, ‘In Too Deep’ sees the EP finish on an upbeat, positive note as Geo acknowledges that he’s “in too deep, ain’t no going back” and instead chooses to embrace his truth. “
The EP is a five-track journey for me,” Geo Jordan explains. “Documenting a feeling of moving from a dark place, digging deep and into opening up to new experiences both amazing and otherworldly, and not so fun… Eventually landing in a place where I’m open enough to accept the highest love internally and externally, and eventually finding it.
He continues: “The best way I can visually describe it is that it feels like stepping from black and white into a rainbow in the middle of a prism. I’ve been through and grown so much in the last few years, the EP is really just a snapshot of that. Making this record has been a great cathartic way of dealing with all of the above. To me it represents multi-faceted re-birth, a new name, an evolved sound that hopefully people will really connect with.”
A highly accomplished multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer, Geo Jordan recently had a writing credit on Doja Cat‘s acclaimed album Planet Her, for the track Alone.
He has previously worked with an array of celebrated artists, including BRIT Award winner Lianne La Havas, Oscar Jerome and Ego Ella May, as well as touring extensively with Rae Morris, JGrrey, The Noisettes and more. His debut EP The Colour of You and follow-up ‘Remember Me Part. 1’ received a plethora of radio support from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 6 and Rinse FM, with DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova and Toddla T supporting his music.
Geo will be joining Jungle on their upcoming tour, playing as part of their band. He will also be performing his own show at Gladstone Arms in Borough on Tuesday 18th August next week. A record propelled by self-realisation and deep contemplation, Technicolour is a sonic snapshot of Geo Jordan as an artist and a human being.
