George Clinton and his band Parliament just released a new video for “Mama Told Me”, the second single from Parliament’s first new album in 38 years, Medicaid Fraud Dogg, which has garnered wide acclaim.
Fresh off receiving their 2019 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Parliament delivers with high energy vocals by George Clinton and Picasso Paid. “Mama Told Me” seamlessly mixes apocalyptic visuals, slick futuristic fashions, and the legendary Blackbyrd McKnight’ssoaring guitar solos over a trap house hip hop beat.
“Mama Told Me” pulls you out of your comfort zone, and touches on important lessons. Your Mama always told you, “if you don’t have nothing nice to say, don’t say nothing at all,” and your Father warned you to be on constant guard. Well, sometimes sh*t needs to be said and you gotta deal with the devil. “Mama Told Me” sets free the youth in all of us and rips right through the barriers that hold you back.
“Mama Told Me” is like a vintage Jeezy trap epic if performed by the marching band at an HBCU homecoming.”
