UK house music sensation George Smeddles debuts on Insomniac’s IN / ROTATION label on November 18th with his new single, “Stay,” a chunky and funky groover that utilizes his own vocal hook.

Equal party polished and punchy, “Stay” is a sophisticated slice of minimal tech exhibiting Smeddles strong attention to detail. Rolling drums and a funky bassline riff provide a fast-flowing undercurrent for the track to rip through. His voice is tucked inside the mix, as the vocoded, wailing stabs spring into action with masterful precision. Meanwhile, liquid synth modulations and warbling melodic embellishments ebb and flow, which keep the groove dynamic and engaging.
Shedding light on an unforgettable weekend that served as the inspiration for his new single, George Smeddles says, “The idea started when I was at Space closing during Miami Music Week. I wanted to make something that took me back to that day and the word ‘stay’ is my own voice that ran through a vocoder. I guess I really didn’t want to leave!”
Hailing from London, George Smeddles’ trajectory has enjoyed a sharp spike since first breaking out in 2018. The whole way through, he’s been treating the dancefloor with his eclectic excellence, drawing inspiration from funk, jazz, soul, motown, garage, and classic house music.
