Four-time UK beat-box champion turned Electro-pop artist, Grace Savage is poised to release her new EP with the arrival of “Cracks” and will be accompained by a brand new visual clip, including a special performance at Glastonbury this year.
She says: “Because the statistics for women in film is just as bad as it is for women in music, I was specifically looking to work with a female director on this video (women gotta support women innit). I managed to find Esme Hicks via a twitter link up and I actually ended up with an almost entirely female-led kick ass crew on the day, which is a rare and beautiful thing. The song is about thinking you are over something or someone and weeks, months or even years later, the feelings you thought you had dealt with, come back “through the cracks” to hit you full force. The song is conversational in tone but epic in production and we wanted the style of the video to reflect that – to contrast the idea of control and chaos in a very simplistic but dramatic setting. We used everyday objects from a past relationship and presented them on plinths with labels, in a clinical, museum-like fashion and then later, as the chaos and emotion in the song evolves and I essentially relinquish control, we used elements from these objects in a more abstract way – i.e feathers from the pillow and silk from the scarf flying around the room. This was a huge team effort on an independent budget and I’m very proud of this one”!
Grace Savage released her highly anticipated debut EP “Savage Grace” in 2017. The release instantly grabbed acclaim from tastemakers THE 405, WONDERLAND and CLASH Magazine among others.
Grace’s first single of 2018, ‘Headlights’ was made track of the day on CLASH music, followed by a premiere on The Line Of Best Fit with her cover of The Cardigans 1998 classic ‘My Favourite Game’, both maintaining her signature electronic pop sound, matched with ethereal tones. She celebrated the launch of her follow up EP ‘Control Freak’ with a packed show at the Sebright Arms following a Red Bull Live Session and an “Introducing feature” in the Metro. Grace’s latest single “Running Under Water” premiered with Complex in June and was picked up by BBC Introducing to be made Radio 1’s Track Of The Week at the end of September.
Grace’s unique ability to mix her award winning beatboxing, live looping skills and melodic vocals have made her live performances much sort after at festivals and arts events.
