Artist and producer duo Grey have released their debut EP “Chameleon” today. The five track EP, see full track listing below, includes their latest single, ‘Crime’ feat. Skott, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Dance/Electronic charts and has been streamed over 2 million times. “Chameleon” is the duo’s first body of work released since the renowned success of their platinum-certified hit, “Starving,” in collaboration with Zedd and Hailee Steinfeld, and their first official single “I Miss You” feat. Bahari, released earlier this year. “Creatively, it was refreshing to let loose, be ourselves, and just go crazy with all the ideas we had bouncing around in our heads once we got in the studio,” Grey says, “our earlier work was more electronic with hints of acoustic layers, but with “Chameleon,” we flipped that balance and then expanded on it. We incorporated not only more guitar, but also cinematic-like string and horn sections throughout that give the whole EP incredible texture.”

With the balance flipped, Grey smoothly traverse a fluid musical universe with ease and finesse, shape-shifting from its urgent beginning through to its gripping end. The title track, “Chameleon,” is an expressive take on superficiality with a matrix of filtered guitars and synthed-out bleeps. “Wings Clipped” is driven by aggressive guitars shredding over distorted vocal samples and full-on rocking drums featuring special guest vocals from Grammy Award-nominated artist Avril Lavigne and post-hardcore hero Anthony Green, lead singer of Circa Survive and Saosin. Elsewhere, “Room 101,” takes a solemn turn through a beautiful cascade of piano balladry before launching into a passionate breakdown of synths and longing vocals. Closing out the EP, “These Roots,” featuring Stephen, mixes gracefully warped piano chords and playful guitar work.
Grey, comprised of brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha, kicks off their first tour in support of Zedd on his North American ECHO Tour in Vancouver tonight. Grey’s live shows have become known for being “downright electrifying” (EARMILK) and “bringing a little extra to the table” (Billboard) as they did in their New York City debut at Electric Zoo 2017. The ECHO Tour will bring Grey to San
Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC and more. Full tour dates are below and limited tickets in select cities are available HERE.
