Hailing from Los Angeles, Ozie Vox unveils his raw and melodically-rich sound under his new electronic project. With a background rooted in black metal and industrial music, Ozie brings a unique perspective to the electronic music scene blending a mixture of influences with cutting-edge sound design. He’s always been drawn to the heavier sounds but loves the versatility and potential of experimentation in electronic music. Some of the artists he draws inspiration from include Purity Ring, DJ Snake, and 3LAU.
Ozie is no stranger to the music scene as he’s been producing, DJing, and playing shows under different aliases throughout the years. He was instrumental in finding the Black Metal/Industrial scene in the early 2000s growing up in Los Angeles. He played in countless notable projects and bands that formed during that time. Although none broke onto the mainstream, the experience and inner workings of the music scene helped develop his craft.
During COVID, he was able to take the time to create and fine tune his music which brought him to his new distinct sound. This particular single “Changes” was created at the height of the lockdowns. “I was haunted by the beats and harmony in my head, I was left with the unknown of working with vocal artists I had never met; I had to get creative. In order to bring the music to life I had to use the limited resources available during lockdown” explains Ozie.
The track gives us an immediate taste of not only his honest but impressive production style, but also his captivating choices of sound design and catchy melodies. “Changes is about the feelings I had about myself, society, friends, family, and just life in general during COVID. We were forced to become solitary creatures disconnected from each other. Understanding that of course no matter how cliche it sounds, our past doesn’t define who we are, always allowing ourselves the ability to change” says Ozie.
He will be releasing consistent singles throughout the year so be sure to follow his social media for updates!
