Returning to cult label Nu Groove following previous 2021 release ‘I Love / The City’, Romero delivers another one-two punch of polyrhythmic goodness; ‘The Monk’ carries a metropolitan feel complete with sporadic retro synth patterns over an addictive guitar funk, while ‘Shoot Your Shot’ is dubbier with a hard, loop-based feel. Both tracks illustrate Harry Romero’s mastery in the studio, with expertly produced basslines and Latin percussive flicks decorating the tracks with ease.
