Shedding light on some of the inspiration figures he channeled for his follow-up offering, Hex Cougar shares: “‘FANTASY’ is a love letter to the early sounds that first pulled me into the world of future bass and melodic trap over a decade ago—artists like Rustie and Hudson Mohawke. I still remember hearing ‘Glass Swords’—Rustie’s debut album—for the first time in my college apartment and feeling completely floored. Around that time, I was also deep into Lex Luger. Hearing the hip-hop trap percussion he pioneered fused with electronic synths and textures was completely intoxicating.”
