Emerging artist Candidate has hit the ground running after debuting on Hottrax in 2023 with ‘Sore Feet Society’ as part of the ‘Tripleution’ VA highlighting exciting global talent. Over the past year, he has been honing his craft, blending 90s-infused house with groovy analogue basslines on impressive releases like his ‘Bass Revolution’ EP on Max Dean’s NeXup imprint, which shot to No. 1 on Beatport within just two days and earned support from Chris Stussy and East End Dubs. Now, as the New Year kicks off, the Liverpool-based DJ/producer returns to Jones’ imprint with his first solo release on the label,‘Sonic System’, featuring three dynamic groovers that highlight the EP’s hip-house influence.

Kicking things off, ‘Sonic System’ delivers an energetic rush, combining vibrant synths, nostalgic stabs, and a driving house beat that keeps you locked in. Built on pure UK heat, ‘Make U Freak’ mixes high-energy beats, throbbing low-ends and commanding vocals, while ‘Rhythm Drop’ delivers a playful mix of chimes that spark a wave of nostalgia, complemented by turntable scratches and punchy rhythms that wrap around the heads-down feel.
