Japan’s Igaxx lands on Will Hofbauer’s Third Place Records with the ‘Floatin’ EP’, arriving 28th March 2025. The EP follows Hofbauer and Igaxx’ split six-track ‘SF Traxx #2’ EP on the latter’s Ladybug imprint in 2024, with Igaxx now joining the likes of schuttle, Stella Z, Maya Q, Nowt, and many more on Third Place.

The EP starts with ‘Satellite’, a steady, sluggish beat peppered with sizzling sounds and extraterrestrial signals for a mysterious opener. Continuing to shoot for the stars, ‘Orbit’ blends razor-sharp 909s with futuristic lasers before title track ‘Floatin’ enters with a stripped-back, snappy groove and hazy, liquid synth lines inducing a dream-like trip. Igaxx then channels the mystical sounds of the forest for ‘Illegible Tree’, complete with swampy sonics and rattling percussion, with closer ‘Tropical Heat’ heading for the sun via dub hits and quirky, psychedelic sound design.
Based in Tokyo, Narr Radio resident Igaxx has released music on Altzmusica, Macadam Mambo, and his label, Ladybug. Since Ladybug’s inception in 2019, he’s worked with acts like Altz, Mayurashka, Eden Burns, and Will Hofbauer, whose Third Place label the promising Japanese artist now debuts on with the excellent ‘Floatin’’ EP.
