Following the launch of Modern Delivery’s new sister imprint Xpress with his driving single ‘Mainframe’, Tampa’s Jay Crusoe returns with a full-bodied statement in the form of his ‘Mysterious Happenings’ EP. Across three cuts, the EP offers a focused exploration of rhythm, space, and tension, laying down the sonic blueprint for the Xpress label ethos: streamlined, high-functioning club tools, with enough character to surprise.

Operating out of Los Angeles, Modern Delivery Xpress is the sharper-edged, club-driven sibling of Modern Delivery, a home for no-nonsense tracks engineered for impact. With its ear to the dancefloor and roots in independent thinking, the label sidesteps the noise in favour of clarity: music that works, travels, and evolves. After an attention-grabbing debut single, this second release doubles down on that vision, expanding both the label’s range and Crusoe’s sonic narrative.
Opening track ‘Mainframe’ leads the charge, having already earned support from major players including Fisher, Gorgon City, and Wade. Built on low-slung bass, crisp percussion, and a lean groove, it’s a club weapon loaded with energy. Next, ‘Mysterious Happenings’ introduces a playful twist, with warping builds and late-night swing, before ‘Selection Malfunction’ closes with off-kilter rhythms and twitchy drum programming for a looser finish that still holds the floor with intent.
Known for blending Latin textures with darker, minimal-driven sonics, Jay Crusoe continues to establish his growing sound. With appearances at EDC Orlando, Sunset Music Festival, and The Ground, as well as releases on labels like Materialism, Hood Politics, and NVDRZ, he’s making noise as one of Florida’s most intriguing new voices. Out 1st August, Crusoe’s ‘Mysterious Happenings’ EP cements his place as the artist to launch the Modern Delivery Xpress catalogue and offers a taste of the label’s longer-term trajectory: direct, club-literate records built for dancefloor movement.
