The title Salida, the Spanish word for exit, perfectly encapsulates the song’s central  theme. Drawing inspiration from holidays spent in Murcia, Spain, and featuring a spoken  bridge in Spanish, the track evokes the atmosphere that shaped its creation. Salida explores the question Jay Hofman has frequently been asked throughout his life, why he  always seems to run away. Rather than fleeing, the lyrics emphasise the importance of recognising when a relationship, job, friendship, home, or place has served its purpose  and reached its natural conclusion. The song celebrates the courage to find an exit,  embrace change, and step into a new chapter filled with greater happiness, fulfilment, and  personal growth.

Remarkably, the lyrics came together in just a few minutes, emerging almost fully formed  from an idea that had lingered in Jay Hofman’s mind for some time. Co-produced with  Chris Hughes of Oscillate Recordings in Cheshire, who also worked on previous singles  Good Kind (To Me) and I Can’t Sing, Salida combines uplifting energy with themes of self discovery and renewal. A music video for the single is currently in production and will be  released soon.

Salida marks another step in Jay Hofman’s evolving artistic journey. Since emerging on  independent platforms in 2011, the then London-based artist has built a diverse catalogue  known for introspective lyrics, melodic experimentation, and a balance of humour with  emotional honesty. His debut album Avant Garde arrived in 2012, followed by releases  including Un-Lush EP (2014), The Modern Vintage (2015), Paradise Cove (2017), Spirits (2018), (EPka) Delekta (2020) and Commentarium de Paradiso (2024). The latter  showcased his versatility with lyrics in English, Polish, and Russian, alongside a  collaboration on Good Kind (To Me) with Voilàh.

A compelling live performer, Jay Hofman has appeared across the United Kingdom,  United States, Poland, Italy, Spain, and Germany, often incorporating visual storytelling  and theatrical elements into his shows. His work continues to explore reinvention, self discovery, and personal freedom while maintaining a commitment to thoughtful multi cultural blend of ambitious, and personal music.
