The longstanding house music favourite has long been regarded as one of the UK’s leading producers with releases on the likes of Solid Grooves, Hot Creations, Knee Deep In Sound, and his own ORIGINS RCRDS. ‘Only Eight’ is a subtle cut at heart, laden with deep chords and a contrasting bouncing bassline that slowly brims with infectious energy. On the fl ip, ‘Sweet Spot’ drives into action with tracking rhythms and stripped-back textures, setting the stage for hazy male vocals that ebb and weave throughout the mix, adding playful fl air to the slinking bassline.

Speaking to the direction he took on each side of his new two-tracker, Josh Butler says, “This EP looks back while still pushing forward. ‘Sweet Spot’ channels the spirit of ‘Jackal’ from my first ”Kaoz Theory‘ EP, and ‘Only Eight’ blends influences from my earlier work—including my Carl Cox remix—with a modern deep house sound.

More About Factory 93

Factory 93 explores the intersection of untethered creativity and bold self-expression, while never taking its finger off the pulse of the underground. When Insomniac broke out its figurative bolt cutters to dismantle the lock on the warehouse scene and return to its roots, it retold the story of its origins in hosting historic parties in the streets of Los Angeles. It also gave birth to a movement where discerning heads are living on the frontlines of celebrating radical ideas through the fusion of immersive live art, cutting-edge technology, and exceptionally curated house and techno. That vision continues to hold the same ground, even as the brand has grown and extends beyond the Downtown Los Angeles warehouse district, where it was originally conceived. Whether it’s at an intimate warehouse space or on a festival dancefloor, Factory 93 manufactures moments that make this culture one we’re proud to call our own. Since launching its own dedicated label arm, the burgeoning imprint has opened its catalog to a head-turning list of established artists and rising talent, such as Carl Cox, Eli Brown, Nicole Moudaber, Space 92, Alan Fitzpatrick, Popof, Victor Ruiz, BEC, Avision, Luuk Van Dijk, Josh Butler, Township Rebellion, DJ Minx, Josh Butler, Airrica, RUZE, Enamour, and many more.
