Releases live video and Nathan Micay remix for ‘Flicker’

‘A mature and thoughtful exercise in leftfield, melodic dance music’ – Hyponik

‘An up and coming talent with a penchant for abstract melodic shimmers and a club focussed attitude’ – The Ransom Note

Soothsayer are delighted to present the atmospheric live video for Juno Mamba’s debut single ‘Flicker’.

Filmed in a Melbourne warehouse, the video was directed by Sanjay De Silva who just took out the ARIA for Best Video at the 2019 awards and won the J Award for Australian Music Video of the Year earlier this year for Sampa The Great’s ‘Final Form’.

The addition of a live drummer (played by Ryan D’Sylva) to the live set up adds a captivating element to the masterfully textured layers on ‘Flicker’. The delicate intricacies of the track are amplified in the captured footage, as Juno and D’Sylva feed off each other’s energy to create a monumental sonic journey. Reflecting on the video Juno says,

Flicker was the first song I wrote and I’ve been looking forward to recreating it in a live format. I find songs can take on a new life when they’re performed live and the energy between musicians can be really special. I’ve been wanting to work with Sanjay on a video for some time now so when this opportunity presented itself, we got straight into it. We’ve started collaborating on something special, which people will hopefully get to see soon.

2019 has been a tremendous first chapter for Juno Mamba. Within 2 months of its release, ‘Flicker’ has seen global playlisting, airplay on BBC Radio 1, received international praise from the likes of The Ransom Note, ADSR Collective, Our Culture Mag and stereofox and remixed by renowned Canada-via-Berlin producer Nathan Micay (LuckyMe/Whities).

Known for this complex and distinctive sound, Nathan Micay recently dazzled crowds locally with his dynamic live show at this year’s Splendour In The Grass and was recently announced on the Pitch Music & Arts Festival line-up for 2020. Where Juno’s ‘Flicker’ draws inspiration from man-made structures and natural elements, Nathan’s rework beckons celestial universes with his otherworldly soundscapes that draw from 90’s rave culture and cyberpunk sci-fi.

As we near the end of the year, Juno Mamba is only just getting started and the ‘Flicker (Live Video)’ is just a taste of what’s to come!
