Justin Martin announces 10 Year Anniversary package for debut album ‘Ghettos & Gardens’

The project, set for release in two parts later this year, welcomes fresh remixes from Model Man, Qrion, Melé, DJ Minx, Seb Wildblood, Mayson Maynard, Harry Romero, Mary Droppinz, Nasser Baker, Atjazz & more.

Originally released in 2012, Justin Martin’s debut album ‘Ghettos & Gardens’ signalled the arrival of a landmark release for the San Francisco native and his emergence as a leading name within house music.

Picking up praise from Resident Advisor through to the likes of BBC and NPR, the thirteen-track long-player brought with it classic singles such as ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Ruff Stuff’. Now after ten years, the project will be revisited this summer and celebrated with an in-depth Anniversary release via his own imprint, What To Do.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been ten whole years since the release of my debut album ‘Ghettos & Gardens’, and to celebrate the anniversary, we are re-releasing the entire album on my own label What To Do, this time with seventeen brand new remixes from some of my absolute favorite artists in dance music today! To kick things off, we have a fresh interpretation of ‘Don’t Go’ by Model Man. His sound is the epitome of everything I love: raw yet beautiful at the same time. I have also dusted off my own VIP remix, remastered it, and it is getting an official release for the first time ever! I hope you enjoy, and here’s to 10 years!” – Justin Martin.

Featuring remixes from Model Man, Qrion, Melé, DJ Minx, Seb Wildblood, Mayson Maynard, Harry Romero, Mary Droppinz, Nasser Baker, Atjazz and more, the anniversary package brings music from across the electronic sphere via a rich list of globally renowned talent.

Ahead of the two-part package, 30th June offers the first glimpse into the in-depth project as Martin hones in on the iconic ‘Don’t Go’ with his own freshly remastered VIP mix. London-based producer Model Man’s remix offers glitchy, skittering breakbeats, sweeping synths and resonant keys beneath the track’s infectious vocals to transport the production across the Atlantic.

Justin Martin ‘Don’t Go’ (Remixes) drops today via What To Do, with the 10th Anniversary package for ‘Ghettos & Gardens’ set for release in two parts later this summer.
