The pandemic has taken no prisoners, and developing artists are certainly no exception. Living in a world on hold when you’re just starting out is a huge hurdle to conquer but Kaisha is moving forward, and this flawless body of work is the product of her tenacity.
Explaining further, Kaisha shared: “I had so many doubts about putting these songs out, not because I did not love them but because my relationship with music had been so strained due to lockdown and covid. And every other musician can relate to what I’m saying- it was and still is a difficult time. But I saw this motivational quote, and as cheesy as it sounds it really hit me.
If not now, then when would I be able to share my art with the world? I think often we chase perfection to the point it becomes a hindrance to any kind of progress. Self-doubt becomes your competitor, and that’s a shame. My EP is a celebration of being able to create something without the fear of failing.”
The four track EP is an exquisite escape from the strains of 2021 and offers a soundtrack that is blissful, by anyone’s standards. See below for the track list;
- Temporary ft. Raquel Martins
- Walkaway ft.Osquello
- Blue Skies
- Hate U 2
Last month Kaisha released the dreamy single Blue Skies, a track born from finding gratitude in the little things and being content with what you have. Sharing a little more Kaisha explained: “Blue Skies is about coming to terms with life and it’s up and downs. Knowing that no matter what you do and where you go, things are easier when you’re happy with what you have first and the people you surround yourself with. To me, Blue Skies is my reminder to stay content in the present and find joy in the simple things because ultimately, happiness lies within ourselves.”
Over the last year Kaisha has been turning heads with her signature honey-dipped vocals, reflective songwriting and groove-laden melodies. Already bagging support from the likes of Clash, Notion, Wonderland, Trench, This Song Is Sick and more, she’s positioned herself as an exciting artist to watch for 2022.
Kaisha was born in Malaysia and relocated to Brighton in 2015 to study music. Taking inspiration from the likes of Mac Ayres, Moonchild & Joyce Wrice, the up-and-coming artist has a fondness for experimentation and twisted R&B.
