For his closing slot at Coachella on April 12, American producer/DJ KAYZOwas joined by special guests Tommy Lee, Yungblud, Grandson, Frank Zummo (Sum 41) and All Time Low‘s Alex Gaskarth. It was here for the first time, witnessed by tens of thousands of fans in Coachella’s massive Sahara tent, KAYZO and Gaskarth performed their new fiery new single “Up In Flames.” The track and its accompanying video is out today (April 24) on Ultra Music.

“The song itself and the production behind it I think has become my best example to date of the blurred line of rock and electronic music that I am continuously working to create,” told KAYZO to Alternative Press, who premiered the video that was directed by Yhellow, today. ‘Up In Flames’ is important because it embodies the high and low of love and friendship. We all have good times with those we love and the memories we keep can make letting go hard whether it’s a friend or a loved one, but at the end of the day all good things must come to an end, it’s about the journey and what is made between the start and finish line.”
“Working with Alex was seamless. We ended up getting together a while back and in one session we wrote and tracked the lyrics,” he adds. “Having him so dialed in and hands on with the creative process was really exciting too. A month ago we thought the song was in a good place to call it complete, but Alex hit me up and wanted to re-record because he knew he could do a better pass of it. He even had ideas on how to refresh the arrangement musically. He was an important and key piece to this song coming together the way it did.”
Alex Gaskarth, vocalist and guitarist of the multi-platinum rock band All Time Low, has topped the charts in both the U.S. and U.K. In addition to All Time Low, Alex is one half of the supergroup Simple Creatures which features Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and a renowned songwriter, working in the studio with acclaimed artists such as 5 Seconds of Summer, State Champs and more.
“Up In Flames” follows previous KAYZO collaborations with Underoath (“Wasted Space”), Blessthefall (“Before The Storm”) and “Alone” with New England-based post-hardcore band Our Last Night. Look for a new album from KAYZO to be released very soon.
