“In the Sea” is the duo’s first release after their sophomore album Saudade, which was released in 2019.
About the single, KEØMA said: “The ocean is a place we often go to to escape our worries, but it’s also a home for thousands of intelligent species. To us, “In the Sea” is a song about underwater friendship. It’s about experiencing life via this watery perspective and through this lens perhaps finding some self-acceptance.”
“In the Sea” features the duo’s soothing vocals paired with catchy melodies that will be sure to have everyone singing along this summer.
The single was released on 23rd July via Embassy of Music.
KEØMA is a collaborative project between Sydney-born, Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist and producer, Kat Frankie, and Cologne-based singer-songwriter, Chris Klopfer. Kat Frankie is a well-known figure in the German music landscape via her soulful indie pop, dynamic live shows and collaborations with top-tier German acts in the likes of Clueso, Olli Schulz, Casper and Materia. Chris Klopfer hails from the indie rock world, writing in both English and German and duetting with some of Germany’s finest singer-songwriters, such as Gisbert Zu Knyphausen and Moritz Krämer.
This fateful and organically evolving duo came together after Klopfer caught a performance from Frankie and suggested they write a song together. The name originates from a Castellari-Spaghetti-Western movie about a gunfighter who returns to his hometown only to find out that it’s been ravaged by plague and menaced by outlaws.
Their latest album Saudade, released in 2019, mostly describes a special feeling of life that reveals as nimbly adventurousness and slightly melancholy, but still positive foresight.
