Featuring a total of 11-new tracks written, performed, and produced all by Kid Froopy himself, Silver Silver is influenced by and combines a a myriad of genre’s including 70s rock, french electronic music, americana, bossa nova, indie-pop and more. Showcasing the artist’s own falsetto reaching vocal range and eclectic production chops, the album acts as a sonic photograph into the mind of the artist himself. Introspective with a melancholic tint of nostalgia, the LP’s songwriting pulls from his own experience moving from small town America to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music, and the journey of being alone in the world.
Kid Froopy’s lyrics throughout the project speak to his feeling like a fish out of water in a fast paced world that seems to have it all figured out. From trying to find his way around the 405 in the explosive opening track “New In Town” to touching base on how he’s been drinking and not feeling right for months on end in the melodic ballad “Hairy” and eventually opening up his heart about his family, the fear and the issues he has with them on “Greenbelt”… Silver Silver is a journey through anxiety, loneliness, and moving through life without a plan. It’s a project that depicts what it’s like to try to find yourself and realizing that you can still be figuring it out, and you can still be lost the older you get.
The LP exudes the pain and emotions of all kind that get summed up best by the last words on the album: “I’m writing things I never speak…. (it’s) a cry disguised as songs i’d write to hide what’s broken me… The season’s change eventually, but I’m pushing thirty, feel seventeen, looking back lost in a dream, salt water falls just like the leaves”
