Where MORTEN and ARTBAT’s original was anthemic, focusing on intense, epic synthesizers, Kölsch supports the powerful lyrical messages with beautiful, resonant piano chords, demonstrating the wide range of emotions found within Bonn’s soul-stirring songwriting. As the track progresses forward, new melodies arise as if the sung words are transforming into swirling, shimmering sonics, perfect for those moments when the sun is rising and the music is still going.
The original has amassed well over 5 millions streams to date, and garnered press coverage from DJ Mag Latinoamerica, DJ Mag France, EDM.com, We Rave You, CULTR, We Rave You, EDM Tunes. It also found its way into a host of tastemaker radio shows fronted by Armin van Buuren, Yotto, Korolova, Above & Beyond, and Tiësto, to name a few.
Kölsch has a longstanding history with both MORTEN and ARTBAT. Last year, the roles were reversed when ARTBAT remixed Kölsch’s deep, seething vocal track, “All That Matters” into a massive techno symphony complete with huge synthetic flourishes. In the case of MORTEN, he and Kölsch have been friends for well over 20 years. It’s only natural Kölsch was able to apply his creative vision to the work of these two celebrated artists in a way that reflects his unique musical identity while honoring the source material. Plus, both MORTEN and ARTBAT are thrilled with the result.
This latest remix caps off a banner year for Kölsch. After heading into 2024 on the heels of ‘I Talk To Water,’ his fifth album on his renowned home label of Kompakt, the Dutch-based artist of half-German and half-Irish descent released “Heartless,” a sweeping single with the live/electronic outfit WhoMadeWho, while also remixing exciting artists such as the Brazilian house maestro, Vintage Culture. These two new offerings add to his impressive catalog that includes entries on premier record labels such as Drumcode, Afterlife, and Crosstown Rebels.
Danish powerhouse Kölsch breathes new life into MORTEN and ARTBAT’s riveting collab “Hollow,” serving as a testament to the sheer brilliance of one of house and techno’s most prolific names.
Kölsch’s new remix of MORTEN & ARTBAT’s single “Hollow” is available on all platforms now via Insomniac Records.

More About Kölsch
Kölsch’s new album, I Talk To Water, is the most personal statement yet from one of techno’s most singular voices. Memorialising the producer’s father, it weaves intimate home recordings from his father’s musical archives into some of Kölsch’s most poetic productions yet. It’s a beautifully resonant album that shivers with emotional candour, grappling with the complexities of mourning and family in profound, thoughtful ways. His fifth album for Kompakt, after 1977, 1983, 1989 and Now Here No Where, it also deftly navigates terrain that has long been natural to the music Kölsch makes – deeply moving, texturally rich, gorgeously melodic. It’s a path he’s been pursuing since his first productions as Kölsch started to appear as part of Kompakt’s Speicher series. On those early cuts, he was focused on the energy and intensity of the dancefloor, somewhere that still feels like home for the producer. As his musical voice developed, his music has tentacled out to other terrain, but with one keen eye always on the fundamental architectures of techno. A considered producer, he’s also alive to the wild moment, the spark of creativity and play, the exuberance and the physicality of the genre he still calls home. It’s something that’s served Kölsch’s music well – the blissed-out contours of his hit “Grey” have led to 5.5 million views on YouTube, and close to 50 million plays on Spotify. This creative malleability doubtless comes from his rare upbringing – half German, half Irish, living in Denmark, he grew up in the hippie commune Christiana, in Copenhagen; his father spent some time as a practicing musician, which can’t help but have informed Kölsch’s decision to move into the creative arts. A smart decision, then: with an international profile as a DJ, having played extensively and at some of the biggest venues in the world (fabric, Berghain), and a long, prodigious stretch of productions for Kompakt, and his own label IPSO releasing collaborations with the likes of Michael Mayer, Tiga, and Sasha, Kölsch’s vision is one that’s true to the self, feverishly creative, unpretentious, and deeply committed.
