South London-based Theo Nasa has always operated on the edges of traditional genres at his own esoteric intersection. His high-energy productions draw on a life spent immersed in drum & bass, jungle, rave, grime, and dark electronic, and always have an intriguing charm and electrifying allure. He has run his own Alien Sound Trax since 2013, released on labels like Rekids, WATB, and UNCAGE, and provided vocals to Rødhåd’s Fabric Presents album and Len Faki’s Figure, amongst others.
Opener ‘Sexy Rhythms’ is a tight and punchy deep techno blend with abstract synth modulations and haunting pads made human by enchanting vocals and steamy whispers. It has a dark charisma to go with the kinetic energy that keeps you locked. ‘Seductive Sequences’ takes things even deeper, with supple, bubbly synths panning across the mix over tightly braided drums and bass, working perfectly on both body and brain. ‘You Know That’s My Spot’ is another warm, streamlined, and stripped back sound with trippy melodic droplets and whispered female pleasures bringing erotic intimacy. ‘Berlin Nights (Late Afternoon Mix)’ slows to a more predatory pace with snaking bass and warped leads but signature sexual energy in the human sounds that drift in and out.
Linear System hails from Northern Spain, and is a master of strong basslines, sci-fi designs, and chilly atmospheres on labels like Dynamic Reflection and Planet Rhythm. His superb remix of ‘Sexy Rhythms’ ups the drum funk and laces in deep space synth bliss for a serene out-of-body experience.
