Uruguayan DJ and producer Federico Epis marks his return to progressive house music with the release of his latest EP ‘Floyd’, dropping on Last Night On Earth on August 28th.
Epis’s career spans two distinct eras of progressive house; past tracks like ‘Brasilia’ have been showcased on Sasha’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and become one of Audio Therapy’s biggest-selling singles, earning support from Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Pete Tong, among others. Releases on Global Underground followed, along with a residency on the Renaissance South American Tour, placing him among the leading names of South America’s first progressive house generation. After a 12-year hiatus, Epis’s return to music has seen him sign with Balance Music, The Soundgarden, Manual Music and Mango Alley, with his tracks charting across Beatport’s progressive section.
He now makes his debut on Last Night On Earth, with the two-track EP ‘Floyd’ showcasing depth and functionality both on and off the dancefloor. Title track ‘Floyd’ blends atmospheric melodies and textures with weightless vocals that drift in and out over electrifying guitar notes and pulsating percussion. Second track ‘Tribute’ evokes a new state, layering melodic keys, airy vocals, and rolling drums to create a dreamy, immersive soundscape. “This EP bridges the two eras of my life in music: the electric guitar textures that shaped my ear before electronic music did, and basslines that echo the icons that made me fall in love with progressive house. Releasing it on Last Night On Earth closes a circle I never dared to imagine when I returned to the studio after twelve years away.” – Federico Epis
