Celebrate house parties with video for ‘Andy Kaufman’

Taken from new 5-track EP ‘Office Space’ due March 2020

Lisbon based trio Ditch Days tune in to 90s retro-grooves and a throwback to halcyon days with a slick, feel good visual clip for new track ‘Andy Kaufman’. Lifted from the forthcoming 5-track EP ‘Office Space’ due this spring, the band create a harmony of peppy-paced 90s tinged indie-pop coupled with breezy vocals and irreverent attitude.

They say: “Andy Kaufman’s music video was supposed to be an analogy about our lives and about how hard it is to find the right headspace to focus on having a band and writing songs, with so much happening in our lives at the same time, personally and professionally. In the end, in our heads in ended up being a music video about friendship. We’ve always loved to do things in a DIY fashion, from recording to designing our album covers and posters, and our music videos are no exception. We wrote a script where we would be in the middle of a party where a lot of things were going on – people having shots, people playing beer pong, a couple getting to know each other, some random guy passing out on the couch, etc. – and we invited our friends to be the cast. After a couple of hours trying to get the perfect shot, everybody was having a lot of fun, some of them were already drunk (haha), and the end result was really natural as we managed to turn that into an actual party with the help of everyone who showed up. Now, every time we think about this music video it only reminds us of our friends and how cool it is to have all this people in our lives, willing to spend an entire afternoon helping us getting the perfect shot and how, in the end, everybody had some much fun it didn’t even look like we were shooting a music video!”

Having teased us with a couple of releases last year, it is clear that time spent in the studio has reaped timely rewards as the band return boasting a bolder, richer sound on ‘Office Space’.

Guilherme Correia, José Crespo and Luís Medeiros are all about dreamy guitar melodies; chill keyboards and catchy bass-lines, shaping the sunny landscapes imagined inside their easy-going and carefree minds.

Blending warm nature environments with hints of urban scenarios, the band evoke cool but complex dream pop songs with some fresh splashes of indie rock, making everyone feel summer will never end.

Throughout 2018 and 2019, Ditch Days kept busy releasing a series of singles and collaborating with other projects such as Terry vs. Tori and Calcutta. While these singles proved to be successful, the Lisbon-based trio decided to write a more cohesive body of work. This result is “Office Space”, a 5 track EP that was conceived during the weekends and after work.

Recorded by the band at home, “Office Space” is heavier and punchier than their earlier material and finds the band exploring the new songs with a shoe gaze approach, without losing the emotional core that has characterised their sound.

Having amassed well over 300,000 streams on Spotify including features on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Indie Lusitano’ playlists, the band graced various festivals stages in 2019 – Queima das Fitas do Porto, Festas do Mar, Super Bock em Stock, MIL Lisboa, Vans Duct Tape, FNAC Live, Talkfest, Indie Music Fest, Festins, Gliding Barnacles, Suave Fest and Clap Your Hands Say Fest!.
