DJ Dextro’s ‘Motivo’ EP on CLR begins with the first part of the title track, in which dubby synths swish and roll between thudding kicks while sturdy claps keep the rhythm. ‘Motivo 1’ is a powerful techno tool, smooth with a deep and dreamy atmosphere and perfect for those late-night trips. ‘Motivo 2’, on the other hand, lends to the darker side of techno, its low-end bubbling among alien machines as its sequences ride and click along the drums, making for a potent and hypnotic club track.
Active since the early ‘90s, Portuguese artist DJ Dextro lands on CLR following a vast discography on labels like UNCAGE, Planet Rhythm and Portugal’s very own Naked Lunch Records. He’s also a prolific remixer, having reworked music from artists such as The Advent, Scuba, and Drumcomplex. With the ‘Motivo’ EP, DJ Dextro shows his decades of experience with two detailed techno compositions, which rightfully find their place on Chris Liebing’s celebrated CLR imprint.
Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like DEAS, Shlomi Aber, Drumcell, Truncate and more while also focussing on developing newer acts in the scene such as B. Riley, The Southern, and Klint.
