As solo artists, Brian Sanhaji and Monoloc have been shaping the Frankfurt sound and the wider techno underground for over two decades. They have played key events from Berghain to Awakenings and released a vital array of EPs and albums on the likes of CLR and Dystopian. In 2025, they came together as FORMS and combined their forces into a thrilling new style. It’s where SENSOR boss Sanhaji’s modular architecture meets Monoloc’s dark low-end weight with high-energy results that are improvised, minimal and intense. With this new EP, the pair present a tightly sculpted three-track EP that explores the raw architecture of modern techno, revealing a different facet of their sound with each new track.
Opener ‘Emphaze’ unfolds gradually through pulsing sub-bass, washed-out textures, and subtle modulations. The result is a hypnotic, tension-filled piece perfectly suited for the late hours. The potent ‘Tibanna’ follows with a precision-built, mechanical groove that’s dry, focused, and relentlessly pushing forward. Third and final gem ‘Surrender in Depth’ closes the EP with a meditative low-end framework where tonal shifts and rhythmic layering sustain a deep, restrained momentum and capture the essence of FORMS: reduced, atmospheric and deeply rooted in the moment.
