Inimitable musician, innovator and instrumentalist Sam Battle, aka LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER returns with his cathartic new single Mind Over Matter. Coinciding with the end of Movember, a month dedicated to raising awareness for men’s health, the single finds Sam at his most personal and confessional yet. Talking about the subject matter of the song Sam says
‘It’s not really something I usually sing about, it’s about my frame of mind I guess, being someone who had a deep old bout of depression a few years ago…I’ve recently been trying to figure how the fudge I got out of it, or if I am even out of it.
Mind Over Matter expertly combines Sam’s quintessential electro-pop instrumentals with his relatable songwriting, the result is a fresh and exciting track that captures him at his best.
Today also sees the announcement of his collaborative project ‘Uncompressed’ with Heinback and Cuckoo who will be performing together on stage at Barcelona’s Sonor Festival in 2021.
This year Sam opened This Museum is (Not) Obsolete in Ramsgate where he showcases obsolete and experimental technology and home built machines.
As well as housing many LMNC inventions and classic machines it houses special pieces by other artists that were exclusively commissioned. Possibly the piece fans are most excited to see in person is the record breaking 1000 oscillator megadrone. Sam’s invention, the “Teletubbie Tidal Wave” also recently debuted as part of Ramsgate Festival of Sound at the Ramsgate Boating Pool. The installation is an interactive art piece based on a large stadium wave of Teletubbies and once again showcases Sam’s multidisciplinary talents.
LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER released his second EP in 2020 and has played sold out live shows across the UK and Europe including a triumphant headline show at London’s XOYO. When he’s not making music, Sam is building organs out of Furbies, producing videos for LEGO, and running his hugely successful YouTube channel.
