Part raver, part electrical engineer, part nonconformist party-starter, today Lubelski releases his second single off his forthcoming LP, ‘Ice Cream Cone,’ an alluring collaboration with the legendary Claude VonStroke featuring vocals by Life On Planets.
The track follows the recent release of, ‘Asylum,’ off Lubelski’s ‘Happy Accidents’ LP, due out on DIRTYBIRD on November 12th. ‘Ice Cream Cone’ comes amidst a US tour including a recent stop at Dirtybird Campout West where Lubeski was the standout star of the fest, with Damian Lazarus, Claude VonStroke, and more incorporating his tracks into their sets.
Lubelski and Claude VonStroke’s collaboration on ‘Ice Cream Cone’ comes highly anticipated blending Lubelski’s modular complexity and VonStroke’s minimal club simplicity. The track is elevated by breakthrough artist Life on Planets delivering a smooth and sultry vocal.
In Lubelski’s own words on the track, “I really loved making this tune with Claude and working with Life on Planets for the vocals. Making all the modular sounds and writing the lyrics were a ton of fun. For me, it’s got a nice juxtaposition of playful but serious energy.”
Singer/guitarist Phill Celeste’s of Life on Planets melds soul, R&B, and house into his music as seen on his previous releases on Kitsune, Soul Clap Records, and Wolf + Lamb. “I’m picky when it comes to food. My go to ice cream is always something basic,” he says. “Vanilla or sweet cream, something easy to pair up with toppings. Writing with the guys on this made me realize maybe I’m not so vanilla after all,” he added.
Lubelski has spent the last decade rising on his own terms, lost on a modular synth odyssey of massive proportions. Through it all Claude VonStroke has championed him first as an artist to watch, then one to cherish, releasing breakthrough tracks like ‘Animalistic’ and ‘Lost My Senses’ that have helped define the next generation of DIRTYBIRD soundscapes. Then in the heat of lock-downs, banished from the booth, Claude offered Lubelski a live modular-jam show on the label’s Twitch channel that would forever change the way he made music. It was here that Claude offered Jake his debut DIRTYBIRD album and where the ‘Happy Accidents’ concept took form.
With the help of his own official Twitch partnership channel and a dedicated group of fans, Lubelski spent six weeks jamming and recording the leftfield modular samples that would become the bedrock of the project. Another month later he would have the most wide-reaching yet cohesive body of work he had ever created. An erratic, eclectic, and club ready moment in time captured in amber and ready to rave.
