Mark Duffy releases his new single “Dreamer Dream On,” the second release from his forthcoming EP of the same name, continuing the next chapter of the Dublin-born musician’s evolving body of work as a songwriter, guitarist, and bandleader.
Following the release of his debut single, “I Will Be With You Always,” Duffy continues to build out the world of the project, further defining its tone and creative direction through a body of work shaped by experience, movement, and long-form artistic development. After more than two decades immersed in music across Ireland and France, Duffy’s path has been defined by constant collaboration—moving between street performance, informal sessions, touring environments, and studio work—each phase contributing to the language he brings into his current recordings.
Now stepping more fully into the role of bandleader, Duffy’s latest work reflects a consolidation of those years rather than a departure from them. The EP, Dreamer Dream On, has been developed across multiple environments and sessions, with writing and early shaping beginning during his time living in County Kerry on Ireland’s west coast after leaving Dublin. The relocation marked a shift in pace and perspective, placing him closer to a more remote landscape that became an important backdrop for the creative process.
That environment fed into a recording journey that later continued at Audioland Studios in Dublin, where Duffy worked alongside producer Anthony Gibney to translate early ideas into full studio arrangements. The process was intentionally collaborative, with a focus on capturing performances that retained a sense of immediacy and live energy while still allowing space for detail and texture to emerge over time.
The sessions brought together a number of longtime collaborators and musicians who have become part of Duffy’s broader creative network. Drummer Dave Hingerty and bassist Brian Hogan contributed to the recordings, grounding the material with a rhythmic foundation shaped through instinct and experience. Their involvement reflects Duffy’s ongoing emphasis on collaboration as a core part of his artistic process, rather than a supplementary element.
Further expanding the sonic palette of the project, additional vocal layers were recorded between Dublin and London with gospel vocalists Wendi Rubee Rose, Janet Ramus, and TJ Cole. Their contributions introduced a wider harmonic dimension to the recordings, adding depth and contrast that sits alongside the core instrumentation and guitar-driven framework of the songs.
Across its development, Dreamer Dream On has taken shape as a project built across places, people, and moments rather than a single fixed setting. It reflects a working method that embraces movement and exchange, allowing each location and collaborator to leave a distinct imprint on the material.
“Dreamer Dream On” arrives as the second step in introducing the EP to listeners, following the foundation laid by its debut single and further expanding the narrative arc of the project. With this release, Duffy continues to refine his position within this new chapter of his career, presenting work that draws from his past while firmly establishing the direction of what comes next.
