Mason Collective return to Defected Records alongside label newcomer VLAD to deliver their take on Route 94’s modern house classic, ‘Tell You Why’.
Originally released in 2014 as part of Route 94’s Fly 4 Life EP, ‘Tell You Why’ arrived during the deep house revival of the 2010s, capturing the era with its laidback yet undeniable groove.
Now stepping up to put their signature spin on the record are Manchester trio Mason Collective, who first arrived on the London label in 2023 with ‘People In Love’, alongside fellow Mancunian Bipolar Sunshine.
The DJ and producer trio are joined by VLAD, an artist who has contributed to numerous Platinum and Gold-certified records, most notably Burna Boy’s studio album I Told Them… which earned VLAD a Grammy nomination.
Together, Mason Collective and VLAD bring ‘Tell You Why’ up to date for the dancefloors of 2026, building on the original’s unmistakable groove with a heavyweight rework that ups the ante through driving synths and low-end energy.
