A four-track release, ‘Make It Hot’, sees the release of the soul-drenched, vocal-driven house vibes of ‘Take Me There’. The club-primed cut is the final song on the EP to see release, and it’s clear they were saving the best till last. A rolling groove, rich in atmospherics and dripping in Mason’s signature sonic swagger, Take Me There’s a future classic in the making.
The EP also features hit single ‘Propane’, a rave-ready tech bomb featuring none other than Chicago house royalty Green Velvet which follow their 2018 collaborations ‘Got This’ and ‘Auto Mate’. Next up is the title track, which sees Mason link up with another Chicago don, this time in the shape of Gene Farris. The Farris Wheel Recordings label head delivers his sensual vocal delivery amidst the most infectious of 303 acid basslines. On the second half of the record, ‘Memory’ sees Mason deliver a Detroit techno-flavoured cut, proving Mason’s versatility once as he trades the kick-drum for breaks for rapturous success.
The release precedes two US shows for Mason, in Florida (Oct 22nd) and Arizona (Oct 29th) respectively, as well as a performance at ABODE in the DOCK in East London on 31st October.
Backed by BBC Radio 1 tastemakers Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard, who bestowed the accolade of ‘One To Watch’ upon the Manchester-born DJ, Mason continues to cement his reputation as one of dance music’s fastest rising talents. Following on from the success of his McLovin’ EP on Hot Creations and ‘The Feeling’ on Repopulate Mars, which was heavily supported by Annie Mac and saw him deliver a mini mix, and remixes for the likes of Fabrikate on Nervous Records, Rudimental and Michael Bibi. In the past couple of months alone he has performed at East London’s 93 Feet East, ARC Music Festival in Chicago and Space Miami, as well as a homecoming show at Parklife Festival.
One of the brightest young electronic prodigy’s to emerge in recent years, ‘Make It Hot’ is the work of an artist who grows with every release.
