After two highly praised releases from founder Toman, High Ceilings now looks outward for the first time to open October as Buenos Aires’ Mateo Dufour delivers his ‘Lick It’ EP – a two-track showcase that captures his rise as one of South America’s most in-demand names within the minimal-leaning house realm.
Dufour is no stranger to the global stage. Emerging from Argentina’s vibrant underground, he’s become a reference point for the region’s sound, with tracks landing on imprints such as No Art, KEY, and Djebali, gaining heavy rotation from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Apollonia, and ANOTR. His international footprint has taken him across Europe and beyond, with appearances from Amsterdam and Barcelona to Rio de Janeiro and London, building a reputation for groove-led sets and productions that cut straight to the dancefloor. For his label debut on High Ceilings, the connection runs deep. A long-time friend and collaborator of label head honcho Toman’s, Dufour’s arrival on the label isn’t a guest spot in the traditional sense but a continuation of a shared journey: music rooted in trust, friendship, and a mutual understanding of groove.
On the A-side, ‘Lick It’ delivers a vibrant roller, built around slinking low-end, sharp percussion, and hooky vocals from Pablo Aristumuño, perfectly tuned for bustling terraces. Flip the record and ‘Get On Down’ explores looser, late-night energies, weaving stripped-back rhythms with hypnotic textures and subtle swing. Both tracks underline why Dufour has become such a distinctive voice, while High Ceilings introduces its first guest artist while staying true to its core – music made by and for those closest to the floor.
Mateo Dufour ‘Lick It’ EP drops via High Ceilings on 3rd October 2025.
