Taking place at the Praça do Município, Michael took over the City Hall with a dazzling light show and an incredible live set for an unprecedented audio-visual experience. Over 5000 people from all generations, including the Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak and Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas, gathered at the City Square for an unforgettable night unlike anything the streets of Portugal have seen before. During the spell-binding show, Michael played a special mix of his latest single ‘Take It Back’ ft. Armen Paul for the occasion – a track that has been blowing up recently, currently featuring globally on three of the main genre playlists on Apple Music – Melodic House & Techno, Breaking Dance and New In Dance. He has also appeared in Spotify’s Nouveautés Electro, Amazon Music Electro’Lala and made the cover and #1 spot on YouTube Music Ultimate Dance Party.
Committed to promoting local talent, Michael handpicked Portuguese DJs Diana Oliveira and Xinobi to join him on the evening, each playing hour long sets to warm up the crowd, with a digital art show featuring the works of Portuguese visual artist Vanessa Teodoro adding an extra dimension.
Last weekend marked a huge milestone for Canitrot and his Monumental Tour concept. Supported by the French National Commission for UNESCO, the Monumental Tour sees Michael combine electronic music, heritage and digital art at iconic monuments to unite generations, attracting new audiences to historic sites, and offering them a different modern perspective to raise awareness of their importance and preservation. Inspired by the incredible landmarks he takes over – which has already included Mont Saint Michel, Chateau de Vincennes, Cathedral de Laon and Palais-Royal in Paris – each show is carefully crafted and unique to its location, heavily influenced by the architecture and time period.
