California-based sensation MISS DRE is one of the brightest names on the rise in dance music. The multi-talented force has been showcasing her staying power in house and techno, renowned for her range as a world-class DJ, producer, and an endless source for infectious vocal hooks. Returning to Insomniac Records for her follow-up appearance, she is now doubling down with her two-track EP, ’Higher / Visions.’
Building upon the roaring momentum of her techno-powered single “Foreign Love” back in January, MISS DRE raises the stakes once again as she puts forth her first-ever EP release.
Catapulted by her commanding vocal work, “Higher” is a slamming house anthem that fuses classic Chicago house sensibilities with a completely modern framework. MISS DRE’s intoxicating vocal refrain loops relentlessly through a crowd-pleasing combination of sleek synth leads, chunky basslines, dark undertones, and shuffling rhythms. Replete with its tension-building breakdown and spoken-word narration, “Higher” takes its time to climb through a warbling crescendo before coming out the other end with a climax poised to push the energy through the roof.
On the B-side, “Visions” keeps the vibes humming at the same sweaty intensity; only this time, she leans harder into techno territory. Driving and dark, the track balances its ear-hooking vocal loops with a heavy dose of squelchy acid. Peppered in with recoiling synth plucks and pulsating basslines, the lysergic layers provide a hypnotic afterhours allure to this club- and festival-ready beast of a techno tune.
Consistently raising the bar with each and every release, MISS DRE has been hitting her stride after debuting on Insomniac Records last year, via her brazen, vocal-driven track “Holla,” an exclusive featured on the official ‘EDC Las Vegas 2023’ compilation album, ahead of her set on the label’s stereoBLOOM stage. Months later, she swung back around to break off her first standalone appearance on the label via “Foreign Love,” which drew radio support from Kiss FM UK, BBC Radio 1, Radio Metro, KCRW, and many more, as well as landing her in EDM Identity’s ‘Artist to Watch in 2024.’
On the live side, MISS DRE is currently enjoying her most notable year of touring to date. Coming off stellar performances at Countdown NYE and EDC Las Vegas, she’s been ploughing through a stacked lineup of festivals from the likes of Beyond Wonderland, Project Glow, Lightning in a Bottle, Beyond at the Gorge, and Day Trip Festival, alongside recent support dates for like-minded artists J.Worra and Westend.
With her debut EP, ‘Higher / Visions,’ MISS DRE reaches a new milestone in what only looks to be a long, prospering career in the spotlight of house and techno’s finest.
MISS DRE’s new release ‘Higher / Visions’ is available on all platforms via Insomniac Records.
