Cologne based producer / singer / composer Moglii (Simon Ebener-Holscher) finds escapist comfort in 2021 with ethereal new track ‘Harbour’ ft Iranian-German songstress Madanii and follows on from his recent acclaimed tracks, ‘Push Me’ ft Panama (Jarrah McCleary), ‘Skoda’ ft LissA’ and ‘Face 2 Face’ with Joel from Lion Sphere.

Moglii says: “Harbour is about a fictional place of calmness, peace and home. It describes an inner state we wanna reach. To feel secure and protected in a wild and chaotic world. So the Harbour is the symbol for that inner place we wanted to outline – you can think of it and feel renewed. At the same time it shows a great wunderlust, “at the oceanside, I’ll be ok”. In a time of ‘lockdowns’ in consequence of a global pandemic, our longing for seeing wide landscapes and breaking out of the hamster wheel raises from day to day “stuck in loops, stuck in loops, stuck in loops”. You no longer recognise yourself. I tried to illustrate that peaceful “glitter on the water”-picture with a stumbling low-fi beat plus a special sound design. You’ll find a lot of field recordings into that soundscapes – like gulls, ship horns and splashing waves. Madanii’s soulful vocals just expresses my feelings perfectly.
Madanii goes on to add: “Listening back to the lyrics now it seems like what I was describing as an inner state of feeling stuck then has in the meantime become an outer world reality. I for one definitely feel overwhelmed with the situation at times and try to find ways to evoke peace and calm. Harbour, to me, is like a 3 min short trip to the oceanside where I can close my eyes and listen to the waves.”
A classically trained jazz pianist whose characteristic production style comes from the mix of warm beats, analogue synthesisers and soulful vocal samples; Moglii complements his modern electronic compositions with acoustic instruments and an organic sound design comprising of samples he created himself and these together give birth to futuristic pop music. His music is influenced by Mura Masa, James Blake, Bon Iver and Flume.
Lauded by tastemaker press and peers alike including Notion, DIY Mag, Earmilk and Dork Magazine, Moglii’s debut solo EP ‘Naboo’ amassed over 30 million streams globally and was described by Complex Magazine as ‘filled with spontaneity and charm’. Moglii made his indelible debut on the scene with a spirited performance with fellow Berlin artist Novaa on COLORS and traversed the globe showcasing his very own ‘organic electronic’ sound live alongside San Holo, Roosevelt, Elderbrook and festivals including The Great Escape, Dockville Festival and Reeperbahn Festival.
‘Habour’ ft Madanii is due on 29th January through Humming Records.
