Following Montmartre’s summery remix of “Cloud No9”, Moli now shares Kazam’s remix of the powerful “Insomnia”.
“Insomnia” is Moli’s response to her falling down a rabbit hole of social media and her own thoughts. When the Belgian singer was failing to fall asleep in a London hostel and instead fell down a social media rabbit hole, she ended up writing a song about it. In her powerful, catchy song “Insomnia” she deals with feeling stressed out and the feeling of not being able to fall asleep.
She says: “This one particular night, I had been assigned a shared dorm on the ground floor and my bed was on the top bunk situated right next to the window where this one bright light shined directly onto my bed in my face. It was summer, the room was super hot so we also needed to keep the window open and people were being super noisy outside, I was lying there tossing and turning all night and anxiety creeped up on me. I spent a while on my phone going through the news and social media and that stressed me out even more. I went down a rabbit hole of thoughts about life, and had a little existential crisis. I was in the studio the next few days and felt inspired by that experience among other sleepless nights and the nights where I have sleep paralysis to write “Insomnia.”
“Insomnia” has now been remixed by the versatile French producer Kazam, whose eclecticism is nothing less than fascinating. His ability to produce an album with influences ranging from Japanese anime to 90s hip hop instrumentals and jazz chords to Rhodes. His two EPs Shades of Blues and Natural Healing, both released in 2020 are the most recent testimonies of his capacity to invent new musical universes.
Kazam’s remix of “Insomnia” was released 29th October via Embassy of Music as part of the Préface Remix bundle.
