Monstercat is pleased to celebrate the upcoming 700th episode of its weekly radio show & podcast, Monstercat Silk Showcase. To mark the occasion, Monstercat will bring Silk Showcase to Seattle for two nights of live performances from label greats Shingo Nakamura, BT, and Jacob Henry. Monstercat Silk Showcase Live will take place at Ora Nightclub on May 12th & 13th, with tickets now on sale to the general public here.

Silk Showcase has been a weekly staple for the Silk fan community since 2008. Featuring an hourlong mix of emotive and intelligent house, progressive, trance, & chillout, residents Tom FallTerry Da LibraA.M.RSundriver, and Monstercat Silk Lead A&R Jacob Henry take turns co-hosting the broadcast. Following Silk’s strategic acquisition by Monstercat, the re-branded broadcast has since been syndicated globally, reaching over 2.8 Million listeners monthly.

Monstercat Silk Lead A&R Jacob Henry shares“I founded Monstercat Silk Showcase nearly 15 years ago and never dreamed that we’d reach 700 episodes, let alone present our milestone with BT as a headliner. It has been equally extraordinary to work with Shingo Nakamura over the past 15 years and to witness his rise in the global melodic house & progressive scene. As both a performer and fan of these two extraordinary talents, I absolutely can’t wait for this event and to reconnect with Silk fans from Seattle and beyond.”

Dan Scarcelli, Head of Live Programming for Monstercat, adds, “Monstercat’s legacy – and our future – have always been about community. Monstercat Silk Showcase is the perfect place for us to share our music globally and bring our community together. This moment is just one of many ways we aim to blur the lines between online and in-person events, in a truly unique ‘Monstercat’ way.”

Both of Monstercat Silk Showcase Live’s back-to-back nights will be headlined by two of Monstercat Silk’s most prominent acts. Friday, May 12th will be an evening of melodic house headed by Tokyo-based phenom Shingo Nakamura, whose latest release “Foggy Morning” released on Monstercat earlier this month. Nakamura entered 2023 as a full-time musician, quitting his day job to record and travel the world performing; this show will mark his Seattle performance debut. Nakamura will be supported by Lead A&R Jacob Henry. On Saturday, May 13th, iconic label contributor BT will command the space with a progressive set, supported by Shingo Nakamura returning for a deep set.

Tickets for each event start at $25 USD while supplies last, with additional packages available, including a two-day pass for both evenings as well as limited VIP Booths.

Both evening performances will be rebroadcast on Monstercat Silk’s YouTube channel, and will also be available to stream and download starting March 24th. In addition, a special opening night livestream will be broadcast directly from the venue to the community on InCrowd. Stay tuned for more information about this on Monstercat’s Discord channel.

Shingo Nakamura Bio

Shingo Nakamura is a Tokyo-based producer and DJ. Hailing from Ibaraki, Japan, Shingo is especially known for a progressive house style that blends deep and lyrical sounds with classical piano. Growing his footprint beyond a dedicated fan base in Asia, he has performed sold-out shows at regarded venues in the US, including San Francisco’s beloved Audio SF and New York’s National Underground. Shingo’s debut album, ‘Sapporo,’ reached #1 on Beatport’s Progressive House Chart, followed by his second album, ‘Days’ (Otographic Music) which reached the top of Beatport’s Progressive House and Trance Charts. His discography also boasts records with tastemakers like Jody Wisternoff and James Grant on the prolific Anjunadeep imprint.

Shingo’s highly-anticipated 2021 album ‘Glow’ (Monstercat Silk) received widespread acclaim with multiple singles reaching #1 on SiriusXM Chill, followed by album-themed guest mixes on world-famous radio shows “A State of Trance” and “Group Therapy.” Shortly after, Shingo performed a continuous live mix of ‘Glow’ on a boat in Tokyo Bay, which has since received over 500k views on YouTube. The album’s sweeping success caught the attention of Grammy-nominated producer and composer BT, who contributed an official remix of Shingo’s single “Darling Midnight” to his ‘Glow (The Remixes)’ EPs. Fellow Monstercat Silk artists and talented producers, including Julian Gray, Matt Fax, and Meeting Molly, also delivered stunning reworks on each package. As one of the top 5 artists overall on SiriusXM Chill in 2022, Shingo has cemented himself as one of the world’s leading talents in the melodic and progressive house space. Further proof of his respected artistry across the music industry, Shingo was recently selected to help launch Spotify’s new ‘DJ Mixes’ global initiative.

Monstercat Bio

Monstercat is one of electronic music’s most influential independent record labels. Founded in Canada in 2011, Monstercat has since expanded its global footprint with three offices across Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Singapore. Leading the movement towards artist sustainability, its mission has remained the same: to empower a creative and passionate community of artists and fans through innovation.

Championing a cadre of world-renowned artists including Marshmello, Kaskade, Whipped Cream, and Slushii, Monstercat celebrated over 20 Billion streams in 2022. With six releases a week across its Uncaged, Instinct, and Silk imprints, Monstercat has topped radio and streaming charts worldwide, offering a diverse range of genres including bass, dance, pop, house, chill, and electronic.

Beyond recorded music, Monstercat channels the undeniable power of its brand into live events, ecommerce, gaming partnerships, digital collectibles, and sync deals. Monstercat has hosted stages and events at notable international festivals including Tomorrowland, Amsterdam Dance Event, and Miami Music Week, spanning over 100 events across 16 countries collectively. Monstercat also holds its own homegrown festival, Compound, which draws thousands of fans to Vancouver annually in celebration of community, music, art, and more.

Monstercat’s live radio program ‘Call of the Wild’ boosts the signal even further, reaching 1.3 Million listeners weekly through its syndication partnerships across 30+ global networks, including SiriusXM and leading livestreaming platform Twitch. In 2021, the label introduced Monstercat Silk Showcase, which features mixes from a rotating cast of artists across progressive and deep house, chillout, trance, and more. The stream receives over 100K downloads per month on Apple Podcasts and is syndicated to Digitally Imported and other online and FM stations. With hundreds of hours of original programming and 3 Million live views in the 2022 alone, Monstercat is one of the most-followed music channels on Twitch with over 826k followers.

Within the work of sync and partnerships, Monstercat has redefined music licensing for content creators and major brands. Undertaking co-branded soundtracks, in-game activations, and collaborations with game publishers and titles including Epic/Psyonix (Fortnite, Rocket League), Roblox, Hi-Rez Studios (SMITE, Paladins), Amanotes, osu! and Beat Games (Beat Saber), Monstercat offers curated solutions that excite and fuel the gaming community. Additionally, Monstercat supports content creators with its music licensing program Monstercat Gold, which allows subscribers to choose from thousands of claim-free songs across the label’s ever-growing library, for use in livestream and video content.

With the firm belief that music NFTs have the power to create long-term artist sustainability, Monstercat launched RELICSxyz, a platform where music, art, and the Metaverse collide. RELICS enable collectors to invest in audio-visual NFTs with dynamic rarities, and use them to innovate within the Metaverse. An early Web3 adopter, Monstercat’s CEO Mike Darlington closed a $1.1 Million raise lead to spin RELICSxyz out from the label and into its own independent company in 2022. Monstercat will continue to innovate in the Web3 space, having generated over $2M from multiple successful drops in its first year, split equitably with visual artists and musicians alike.

Backed by passionate employees, driven artists, and the dedication of fans worldwide, Monstercat proves that independent labels have the ability to reshape and reimagine the music industry landscape.
